Background

Pocono Raceway is one of six superspeedways to hold NASCAR races, the others being Michigan International Speedway, Auto Club Speedway, Daytona International Speedway, Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway.[2] The standard track at Pocono Raceway is a three-turn trianglular-oval track that is 2.5 miles (4.0 km) long.[3] The first turn at the track os banked at 14 degrees, and the second is banked at 8 degrees. The final corners is at a 6 degree banking, while the straightaways each have 2 degrees of banking.[3] The racetrack has seats for 76,812 spectators.[3]
